Support MVR on this Day of Unity

Dear MVR Supporters:

My fingers are having a difficult time typing “in these uncertain times.”  I’ve read this phrase a million times already and I feel more than ever that we will survive and eventually thrive because that is what Mancosians do!

The coronavirus pandemic has shown how much our small community cares for one another. Charming designations aside, Mancos is a lot more than what meets the eye. Neighbors check in on each other just like Mayberry and our farmers and ranchers work their fingers to the bone supplying us with food. The Mancos FoodShare and Mancos School District feed our children and families every week at no cost. Our town folks continue to patronize our beloved local businesses – buying coffee in bulk, wood fired pizzas, and tortas for dinner. We know what a gem Mancos is, we know how lucky we are to live amongst this beauty with all types of caring and upstanding people. Politics don’t matter in a time of crisis, our hearts are full of gratitude for our first responders who volunteer their time to save people’s lives, our churches find a way to spread hope through Zoom, and local yoga classes continue to calm our frazzled nerves in our living rooms.

MVR is the heart of Mancos. Without our fiscal sponsorship both the Mancos FoodShare, which is doing an amazing job providing food security to our citizens, and the Pay it Forward Fund, which is helping keep many afloat through financial hardship, would not be functional. MVR completes the daily operational -albeit boring- tasks like tracking bank deposits, sending tax donation letters, and preparing financial reports to help keep grant monies flowing in while FoodShare and PIFF work on the front line. We all work together in times of need.

MVR’s year looks unclear. We don’t know if we will be able to hold our two biggest events and fundraisers later this year. A donation to our organization means things will continue to flow and operate efficiently and we can continue to provide administrative support to the heroes in our town. It means we really are all in this together and we will continue to take care of each other, one day and smile at a time.

Consider a donation to MVR on this This Giving Tuesday Now and help support the Heart of the Community.

Please take care of yourselves and stay safe!

Kind regards,

Kim Cox
